PEP War Plane Gliders - THUNDERBOLT
These are laser-cut reproductions of toys that were packaged in Kellogg's PEP cereal during World War II. I have scanned and traced the originals, so the sizes, shapes, dimensions, and proportions are just how the kids pulled them out of the box. The originals were ink stamped on a very hard but thin wood. These reproductions are laser-cut into 1/20" balsa, with markings on both sides, so you don't have to struggle like the kids did in the past. There were a total of 20 different Allied war planes produced by Kellogg for this series.
The original glassine envelopes said "This is an authentic scale model, suitable for silhouette identification - not a flying model". However, I adjusted the wing and tail incidence and these 6" span models can glide reasonably well. I removed the landing gear and replaced the propeller with a small ball of clay and it surprised me as it flew across the yard!
