I am calling these "Builder's Blocks". One of my modeling friends asked if I had a) ever used these and b) could reproduce them. It seems they may have been originally produced by Rocket City back in the '80s.
These are 5/8" square and 3/16" thick and each edge has notches to capture and clamp various sizes of balsa sticks while building. In my version, there are eight slots for differing sizes of wood:
1/20" square
1/20" x 1/8" vertical
1/20" x 1/8" horizontal
1/16" square
1/16" x 1/8" vertical
3/32" square
1/8" square
1/8" x 1/16" horizontal
They also have holes on all three axes for pinning to the building board. See the photos for examples of use.
These are sold in packs of 12.
